New Insight into Enhancing Organic-Rich Shale Gas Recovery: Shut-in Performance Increased through Oxidative Fluids

چکیده

Oxidizing stimulation of organic-rich shale reservoirs, as a supplement hydraulic fracturing, was proposed to enhance gas recovery. Previous publications revealed that the interaction between and oxidative fluids causes components’ dissolution, which induces lots pores microfractures, resulting in rock microfracturing without confined pressure associated increments matrix permeability, improving unpropped fracture conductivity. However, enhancement recovery with still lacks an implementation clue targeted for specific engineering problems. In recent years, water–rock inducing microfractures indicates positive effect retained fracturing fluid on after operation, sheds light production by shut-in. The objectives this study are provide new perspective whereby shut-in performance could be increased injection into formation during operation. Firstly, mechanisms illustrate increment density networks, improvement network conductivity, promotion desorption diffusivity, demonstrated. Then, feasibility using increase performance, follows geological characteristics is evaluated. Finally, according analysis two typical types wells, one low high (LGP-HFR) other (HGP-LFR), strategy developed. This operation may become promising cost-effective approach

Shut-in based production optimization of shale-gas systems

This paper presents a novel operational scheme for enhanced utilization of late-life shale multi-well systems. These systems are characterized by a large number of geographically spread wells and pads, where a substantial number of the wells are producing at low erratic rates due to reservoir pressure depletion and well liquid loading. By applying a cyclic shut-in and production strategy, the s...

New Insights into Cerium Anomalies in Organic Rich Alkaline Waters

Cerium anomaly development in natural waters is commonly related to the mechanism of oxidative scavenging of tetravalent cerium by iron and/or manganese oxides. In this study, a new mechanism for the development of Ce anomalies is described, which combines the oxidation of Ce at high pH by carbonate and the preferential adsorption of Ce(IV) to humic acids. This new mechanism was experimentally ...

Organic compounds in produced waters from shale gas wells.

A detailed analysis is reported of the organic composition of produced water samples from typical shale gas wells in the Marcellus (PA), Eagle Ford (TX), and Barnett (NM) formations. The quality of shale gas produced (and frac flowback) waters is a current environmental concern and disposal problem for producers. Re-use of produced water for hydraulic fracturing is being encouraged; however, kn...

New insight into the contributions of thermogenic processes and biogenic sources to the generation of organic compounds in hydrothermal fluids.

Experiments on hydrothermal degradation of Pyrococcus abyssi biomass were conducted at elevated pressure (40 MPa) over a 200-450 °C temperature range in sapphire reaction cells. Few organic compounds could be detected in the 200 °C experiment. This lack was attributed to an incomplete degradation of P. abyssi cells. On the contrary, a wide range of soluble organic molecules were generated at te...
